I have some exiting news for you all- I was featured in Sofis Mode Magazine this month and received my copy in the mail yesterday! It was a bit difficult to translate the article considering the magazine is in Swedish but I did my best with google translate so here it goes:
In sunny Newport Beach to strict dress code. Women dressed in tight jean shorts and flip flops, have sun-bleached highlights and a pastel-colored dresses to match.
By Megan Stewart, you can not see out. It makes you just can not.
- On the boardwalk, she stand out like a rusty nail.
With three closets full of clothes from the women's fifty, sixty mod, romantic hippie, seventies and eighties punk - not to mention all those hats - she is often assumed to be on his way to a masquerade. Megan could not care less. She has always been too obsessed with the past decades - old clothes, movies, books, photographs - to have a chance to be like everyone else.
- So much of today's fashion is still just reinterpretations of older styles. I simply skip the middlemen and directly inspired by the original instead! Why let someone else interpret when you can do it yourself?
A scholarship to Chapman University Megan Stewart had to leave family and friends at home in the ski resort of Park City, Utah, to study in the sunshine. Six years have passed since then. Now it's time to move. Megan knows that she wants out, just not where. She has no plan. She is waiting for a feeling, a sign. But it is not the fierce comments that got her to tire of life in the OC.
- People are welcome to talk about me. It is their own time they are wasting! People are funny like that - they complain when someone sticks out, but secretly they wish they had the courage to go their own way. I wish they dared. It's always more fun to be yourself than anybody else.
Megan Stewart, of Newport Beach:
- It is really unbelievably beautiful here. I love being in nature, and it is magnificent here - I go a thousand times better on hiking in the mountains than on a crowded bar or nightclub.
Sad thing is that courage is so monotonous, it is difficult to be inspired when everyone walks around in denim shorts, t-shirts and flip flops.
Your visit to Newport Beach you'll obviously come by and visit in Bohemia, the shop where I work! We have wonderful clothing at affordable prices - and we also serve coffee. Latte and shopping, who can resist? "

Oh, how lovely! The story (once you get used to the Google translator-English) is beautiful, very inspiring. I also love the first outfit. The crop top is typically a thing that only works on a certain body type - yours - so unfortunately it's impossible to pull off for most people, but I love it on you!
ReplyDeleteAwesome, congratulations!! Also love your outfit--nothin' like a simple crop-T and shorts!

I love what you said in the article... I've just come across stepping out in fashion courage, wearing what I love rather than what everyone will compliment me on. It's really refreshing. And you are so inspiring! Along with blogs and my trips to Australia and NZ. I know what it's like to be surrounded with t-shirts, shorts, and flip-flops (except we call them slippers here in hawaii)!
ReplyDeleteOh wow! lovely my dear, you always look fabulous, so well deserved!

It's so funny, I've been following your blog for a couple months now, and whenever you would post a picture at the beach, the only thing I could think would be "OMG, that's Huntington!" or "That's gotta be Newport!"
ReplyDeleteAnd now I know those guesses were right! :P So, as it turns out, we must live really close to each other! I live in Orange County too, and maybe 15 or so minutes from Chapman!
So hello neighbor! ;) (Oh, and P.S., I love your blog! Your outfits are so imaginative!)

I love your blog:)! I came across it this morning and practically went through all your posts.
ReplyDeleteCongrats! Totally deserved. And you look so pretty even with the sunglasses covering your eyes!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! Your outfit is GORGEOUS!
ReplyDeleteOh there it was! :) I love the Google translation, however of the idiomatic expressions might be tricky to understand. The sentence "By Megan Stewart, you can not see out. It makes you just can not." is more like "You relly can't look like MS, you just can't" (Just remember this is the assumed opinion of the Newport people^^) Also the word "courage" I believe is to be replaced by "fashion" (very similar words in Swedish: mod/mode)
ReplyDeleteKeep up the LOVELY work!
I like this look! Lovely shorts...great post!
ReplyDeleteCongrats!! This is so amazing!!
ReplyDeleteAnd i really love your shorts.

Hi, I'm from sweden and I thought maybe you would like a little better translation to "By Megan Stewart, you can not see out. It makes you just can not. ".
ReplyDeletewell, it's simply: You don't look like Megan Stewart (in newport). You just don't.
I love your blog and I actually found it in sofis mode..
