Afterzine

I've been waiting to show you these photos for a while now.  I was approached by an upstart magazine, Afterzine, in early April about doing photos based on my favorite book, book character or book cover.  I chose, quickly, to style my outfit after Haruki Murakami's Kafka On The Shore which is hands down my favorite book. I hadn't even looked at the cover but once I did I knew instantly what I would wear.  It atually worked out perfectly, because I had just purchased this pastel suit, and bought these great glasses from the Brik Brak section of Salvation Army that matched the cover and its color scheme, almost, perfectly.
I'm so excited to be a part of this first issue of Afterzine!  Its a beautifully bound book-style magazine with amazing contributors like Alexa Chung, Thurston Moore, Tavi Gevinson and Noma Bar.  Head over to their website to get your hands on a copy while they last - these are really limited at only 1000 copies.  Additionally, each copy comes with a bookmark with two of your favorite bloggers on each one.  Its pretty cool, but really weird to have a bookmark with myself on it.  HA!

Below are some extra photos that I shot for the feature.

Fun Fact: This was the first time that I shot with a DSLR camera and it motivated me to step my photo game up. Literally, within the week I had purchased one of my own and it was one of the best decisions I have made for my blog!

These are lovely photos and a great idea but it seems a shame that they were published in black and white! To me it is the colours of the outfit which convey the feeling of the cover and this is lost in the black and white - thank goodness for the bookmark!
