Dress: NOS Vintage Sweater: Thrift Shoes: Frye
I woke up to my favorite kind of weather yesterday – overcast with a touch of gloomy. For one the clouds create great diffused lighting for my photos, and two, I’m dead sick of summer & all of its trappings.
My boyfriend and I went to a fun place to shoot in Irvine where there is a street of old abandoned houses. There’s neat stuff all over the place, and a farmer’s market down the way if you get the urge for kettle corn. I was really pleased with how these photos turned out, because I’ve been forced to shoot in super-bright sun lately & was concerned about the change. But low and behold, the photographs turned out perfect!
On a side note, does anyone have any tips for expelling bad energy from a building? It sounds crazy, but I’m in such a funk & spent a good part of the night moving furniture around just to make my apartment feel different. I hope that everyone is having a good week so far – I’m going to buy some sage from a bong shop.
lovely dress!

ReplyDeleteyou look spectacular, AS ALWAYS haha.
ReplyDeleteand i didnt know that there were abandoned houses in irvine, its all so relitivly new.
anyways. my mother would always burn inscence, sage, or rosemary around the house, she was very superstious and beleived it warded off spirits.
I love this dress!! Love the theme of these photos; the colors from the dress and house blend really well together. It brings a lot of life to the photos! :) (The last one is almost perfect except for your little foot got cut off! Eee!)

GORGEOUS SWEATER!!! I love these pictures as well:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat house!
ReplyDeleteto remove negative energy open everything that is closed.... doors, boxes, windows, cabnets, ect. Then, walking from the front door circle each room clockwise. Ring a bell when going from room to room or in corners or area where you feel the energy is negative and can be trapped.
You may want to (when everything is open) trying other things like burning sage (as you mentioned), sprinkling salt on the floors or wiping the walls with it. It always good to finish up with a sea salt bath to remove any of the negative energies from yourself that you may have taken in during the cleansing of the house.
I just bought a house this summer and have yet to do any of this. The house feels so comfortable and I enjoy the energy so I may not ever do it.

ReplyDeleteHugs from Argentina.
I love your outfit. The print on the dress is so pretty and your hat looks great.
ReplyDeleteFANTASTIC photos! I absolutely love the two with your face partially blocked by the door's screen. I'm not sure how you altered your blog layout, but I am loving the huuuuge photos. They are so clear and focused too, so compliments to the photographer.
ReplyDeleteYeah, sage your house chica. I've also heard that copal incense helps. And then there's always the hoodoo shops selling VanVan Floor wash. Put salt in the corners, let sit over night. Sweep up salt and take outside. Do not dump it in your house. Take it outside and dispose of it. Then mop your floors clockwise with vanvan floor wash. Who know if it actually helps but you'll feel better about your squeaky clean floorboards!
xo.
I love that last photo of you! So sweet. Plus, that sweater looks amazingly warm.
ReplyDeleteNot sure about bad energy, but whenever my place is driving me crazy, I end up just going on a throwing away spree. I usually feel so refreshed after, until I realized I probably threw away a good amount of stuff I may actually need.
your hair is looking SO incredibly beautiful! i love love love the color. <3
ReplyDeleteYou look wonderful! I love the long cardigan and the pattern on the dress. The setting is amazing, really love the photos. I have no idea how to expel bad energy :(, good luck trying some of the suggestions! <3

ReplyDeleteGorgeous dress! Love it.
ReplyDeleteI just going to say buy sage but read you were already on it, ha. Some friends of mine just moved into a house and it gives you the total creeps. Their closets are these small little rooms that remind me of that movie Nicole Kidman was in, The Others. And to top it all off we found a grave stone in the yard....no good.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Love the dress, you are super gorgeous :]

ReplyDeleteThat first photo is a fine one!
ReplyDeleteAnd the sage? Would it be to deodarize a living space? I have a funny story about that...I tried it once in an apartment complex and all the neighbors came looking for the pot party.
