So, I’ve been having troubles getting my outfit photos done in the incessant rain, here, in California. However, I know that I need to wo”man” up a bit, because I’m moving to a land of extreme weather in two weeks! That’s right folks, the reign of boring tyranny here in California is coming to an end, and I’m moving back to Park City, Utah.
While a part of the reason that I’m moving is far from pleasant, my boyfriend and I have been planning this move for some time, now. Basically, my mother is sick, and it gave us the kick in the butt that we needed to pack up and leave. Stars aligned, jobs opened up and leases ended all within days of receiving the news of my mother’s illness.
So California, in parting, thanks for introducing me to some good friends and the love of my life. Outside of that, your rent is too high, your jobs are too scarce and your weather is too predictable. If you ever want me back, you need to change a few of these things – my guess is that you won’t.
To any of my followers in Utah, hit me up and we’ll do some shopping at Decades and make candied apples – or whatever people do under 7 months of snow. Sayonara suckers!
I like your writing. I hope that Utah makes you happy!

new reason to go to Utah other than visiting family in St. George and my bff in Salt Lake. now i've gotta plan my road trip to see you in Park City/snowboarding trip! it's funny that that has a higher chance of happening than me going to OC for a different reason than to see the folks.
ReplyDeletei'm sorry to hear about your mother, meg. you're in my thoughts! safe travels!

ReplyDeleteAwesome! I'm going back to Utah to visit my parents in Salt Lake in a week. Park City's a beautiful place, though I don't know if rent there is much lower than California... I look forward to seeing lots of beautiful outfit shots with the mountains!
ReplyDeleteWow, snow! Hope everything goes well for you and you mother.
ReplyDeleteThat is so nice of you to move all that way for your mother but also exciting! I've never been there but I hear Utah is gorgeous. Great backdrop for style photos!
ReplyDeleteSounds exciting! I wish you mom the best and I hope you get to experience some new great things after this move!

I'm so sorry to hear about your mother, I hope she is fine. That is very considerate and thoughtful of you to move back to Park City to be with your family. I'd love to visit you sometime... since I have a certain someone who lives there... we gotta catch up, because I don't think the last time we spoke on facebook, I told you my news. Nevertheless, you are very brave and amazing to move back to Utah. You had your time with SoCal and you met the love of your life and sometimes you just need to be somewhere else for a change. Good luck with this chapter of your life. I'm glad everything worked out in terms of the moving situation. Good luck with the move and everything! Hopefully we can chat up soon! I miss you!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes on this move. It seems the stars are alighing, although I wish your mother wasn't ill.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that your mother is sick. California rent definitely is too high, but you should come check out the Bay Area sometime. Not quite as predictable weather and all kinds of fun. I'm glad that everything worked out so neatly at the end, too. I'm excited to see your new (old)surroundings!
ReplyDeleteGood luck in those horribly weathers!
