Shawl & Dress: Vintage Blouse: Lush Shoes: Steve Madden
Some of the best things in life are free, and this shawl is no different. Over the past year, I've been gifted several antique furs from the heydays of the 1920s and 30s Los Angeles. The source is the nicest lady in the world (I'm willing to bet money on it) from my local bookstore, and her source was her great aunt who, coincidentally, was quite the talk of the town back in the day. In fact, this woman had opened the first Hallmark store in LA. Her whole collection was custom, and thankfully, she was apparently as petite as myself. Now, as a 14 year vegetarian, I have my qualms with fur, but as working class girl, I've also learned to never look a gift horse in the mouth - whatever that really means.

I totally agree--vintage fur=ok. Oddly enough I got a fur shawl just like this one, but a lighter brown, for free from a woman giving it away on my sister's block as well! You look great and have given me inspiration to wear mine again! Thank you Meg!

I'm a big advocate of enjoying free stuff and also wearing vintage fur. You're not harming any animals that are currently alive and you're keeping something beautiful from ending up in a landfill.
