Living in any landlocked region of the US, you become accustomed to a watering down of culture. Simply put, by the time social trends reach your state, they’ve lost a great deal of what made them exciting in the first place. Utah is no different. Here, we suffer the worst of everything: fashion, food, culture, and alcohol. The only upside of it all is family and the rugged, but beautiful, landscape.
We are a state deprived of “designer” anything. Whether this culminates from a love of the lackluster or maybe from everyone under 30 having 15 kids and no time to think of anything but diapers, non-caffeinated drinks, and new ways to make anyone different feel bad about themselves, I don’t know. What I do know is that I got a breath of fresh air when news broke that the legendary Tiffany & Co were opening their first Utah store in SLC. The icing on the cake came a short time after when I was asked by Tiffany’s to attend the grand opening soirée. Now, I don’t have the income to support a Breakfast at Tiffany’s moment every weekend, but on this occasion, I was elated to gain access to an ACTUAL breakfast at Tiffany’s directly from the source!
Before the opening, Tiffany’s was kind enough to mail me a beautiful little necklace – appropriately a sterling silver key for the grand opening – and needless to say, the day couldn’t come soon enough; after all, its freakin’ Tiffany’s. So, the day arrived, and my little sister and I headed down to the store and let me tell you- the store was gorgeous. The staff was beyond hospitable, the jewelry was tastefully extravagant, and the décor was right out of the sixties. I was swooning. It’s difficult to say what the highlight was for me – it’s a tossup between trying on $37k rings and being interviewed for FOX13 news. Both were fun, but being on the news made my Mom and Dad really happy, so I’ll probably go with that.
All in all, I’m really happy to finally have some culture in this state, even if culture still closes down on Sundays – Tiffany’s or not.
Quick instagram pic, isn't my sister gorgeous? Full outfit post to come laster this week, stay tuned!

Beautiful, what a lovely set of sisters! Looks like an awesome event!
what is your instagram name??
Looks like so much fun! :)
This is really cool and I really can relate to the fact that the place you live ends up getting the watered down version of things. I live in Portugal and even though things are much better now, fashion didn't use to be so hand in hand with the rest of the world. I guess that now it's different due to the proliferation of the internet.
It looks like you had great fun, I'm glad even if a bit (immensely) jealous!
